Work with Us

Iconal is always looking for talented people to join our team. We offer a great opportunity to apply technical skills to real-world problems. All our employees’ work makes a difference, both within the company and in the security field worldwide.

We pride ourselves on our flexibility, both in reacting quickly to new challenges and in supporting our employees. All of the current Iconal team work flexibly and several of us work less than full-time.

We recognise that diverse teams produce better results. We are committed to increasing diversity at Iconal, so that we can best address the security issues that affect everyone in society. We are a small team and it’s very important to us that all our employees feel valued and included. This is the only way we can reach our full potential – and it’s the right thing to do.

We want to hire the best people to work with us and we will assess this based on candidates’ potential contributions to the company – not their other characteristics or commitments. We will consider applications for full-time, part-time or other flexible roles.

If our work sounds interesting, we have a list of current opportunities at the end of this page or please get in touch – we will be delighted to hear from you.

What’s it like to work here?

Iconal is a collaborative team of scientists, engineers and support staff, all motivated by working on interesting projects, learning new skills and having a positive impact. As an entirely employee-owned company, we strive to provide benefits that reflect our company culture. These include:

  • 28 days’ annual leave and a time-off-in-lieu policy
  • Support for flexible and/or hybrid working
  • An annual profit-share bonus scheme, depending on company performance
  • Free private healthcare cover
  • Annual training budget for professional development

Our current and past employees say… (taken from our Glassdoor profile)

“Working in a team with such friendly and technically-skilled people is highly rewarding”

“Everyone has a voice and can contribute not only to conversations on their area of expertise, but on the direction of the company as a whole”

Current roles

Although we are not currently actively hiring we always welcome speculative applications for a Technology Consultant to join our team. This role will involve elements of hands-on scientific experimentation, technical R&D, data analysis, technology forecasts and foresighting studies, laboratory and field test & evaluation of new and emerging technology using techniques from across a wide range of physics, chemistry, material science and electronics engineering and IT. Please contact to apply or for more information.

Graduate recruitment

As a small team we don’t have a formal graduate programme, however we have a number of our team who have joined us directly from university and encourage any speculative applications for the Technology Consultant position from people who have finished, or are just finishing a programme of undergraduate or postgraduate study. Because we are a small focused team, opportunities for development and growth for graduates will be faster than in a large company for the right candidates.

We are now open to applications for our summer 2024 internship position. We’re looking for students currently studying a STEM subject, who are interested in applying their skills to real-world problems. The role will depend on the specific project, but typically involves elements of hands-on scientific experimentation, technical R&D, programming, and data analysis. In addition to carrying out work on a defined project, we encourage our interns to get involved with all aspects of the company for a taste of technical consultancy.

Please contact with a CV and covering letter to apply or for more information.
