He has worked within the UK government and in technology consultancy with expertise in commercial R&D and product development across diverse sectors such as biomolecular diagnostics, medical imaging and consumer electronics. Dr Pollock’s experience covers many areas of physics and engineering with a focus on the techniques applicable to explosives and weapons detection. He possesses core competencies in the fields of laser spectroscopy and millimetre wave technology alongside practical experience in operationally relevant test and evaluation of commercial CBRNE detection products.
LJ read Natural Sciences at Clare College, Cambridge and was awarded a PhD in Evolutionary Genetics from the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge, in 2010.
She has held data analysis and technical writing roles in both consultancy and the public sector. She also previously worked as a scientific publishing editor at the Royal Society of Chemistry. LJ brings a range of skills in experimental method, technical writing, data visualisation, statistical analysis and modelling to the Iconal team.
Dan graduated with a physics degree from Oxford. He has a PhD from Imperial College London, where he developed new laser systems and ultra-sensitive instrumentation for atomic physics experiments. Dan has also spent time working for NASA, controlling spacecraft-mounted measurement equipment such as spectrometers and radar receivers.
Dr Kemp read Natural Sciences at Downing College, Cambridge and was awarded a PhD in Physics specialising in Radio Astronomy from the University of Cambridge, Cavendish Laboratory in 1978. After postdoctoral research in space science and in medical imaging, he moved into industry where he has held a number of technical and managerial roles in technology start-up, management consultancy and systems integration companies.
Dr Kemp’s expertise and experience covers a wide range of physics, engineering and IT areas such as security screening, explosives and CBRN detection, imaging technology, information systems and databases, medical imaging, speech recognition and image processing. He is a Chartered Engineer, a member of IET, IEEE and SPIE.
Iconal maintains a network of associates from academic and commercial backgrounds, accepted as experts in their fields, who can be brought to bear on project when specialist domain advice is required.
