TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AVAILABLE
Concealed knife detection technology
With a granted patent, Iconal Technology is looking for partners to take this technology forward and help make our streets safer, for everyone. We are seeking OEM partners to take this product to market and into operational use.
The available technology is a novel millimetre-wave approach to detecting concealed bladed weapons. It uses radar techniques to tell knives apart from everyday objects like phones, keys and folding umbrellas. The system works in a fundamentally different way from conventional archways and body scanners.
By distinguishing knives from commonly carried items, the concept delivers fast, cost-effective screening.
We are seeking to transfer this technology to a partner with the resources to undertake product engineering, manufacture and deployment.
This is an opportunity to acquire outright a laboratory demonstrated detection technology, with patent protections and potential for adaptation to multiple operational settings.

Key features
-
Differentiates between knives and everyday metal items such as keys or coins, reducing false alarms compared with typical approaches such as metal-detector archways.
-
Portable concept demonstrator prototype tested and demonstrated to a range of Police and other government stakeholders. Planning for operational trials is underway.
-
Uses low-power, non-ionising millimetre wave signals, which are harmless for human exposure.
-
Patent granted in 2025.
-
Police operations, transport hubs, public events, venue security, and other settings where knife screening is required.
-
Concealed knife detector as a stand-alone product, with potential for integration into third-party screening systems.
